Ægir Iron on iPhone: coach dashboard, Body Map, and analytics
What Is Ægir Iron?

Not Another Fitness App

Ægir Iron is a strength training platform for competitive powerlifters, weightlifters, and strongman athletes, for varsity team athletes, and for general lifters who just want to watch their numbers move. It runs on iOS, Android, and the web.

Your training data belongs to you, whether you're an athlete or a coach, and no matter which coach you train under. Move freely from self-coached to coached and back. Change disciplines, train through an injury and return. Your history follows you through every chapter. Start from a prebuilt template, import your own, or build one and save it for reuse. Add your full training history, past meets, and prior lifts by batch or manually.

And where most apps stop at logging, Ægir Iron can also assist. Turn on the optional Ægir Assistant Coach and it reads your own results to answer questions, or builds a program, logs a session, or updates a max from a plain-language request, with every change confirmed before it saves. It is off by default, and everything here works fully without it.

Programs & the Wizard

Start From a Prebuilt Program, or Let the Wizard Build One

Browse more than 35 ready-to-run programs across powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, strongman, and team sports. Or answer a few questions and the Program Wizard writes a full Cycle / Block / Week / Day plan around your goal, experience, and equipment, with dedicated deep steps for powerlifting, weightlifting, strongman, and calisthenics.

Powerlifting

Four programs from Foundations to a 12-week meet peak. The wizard adds low or high bar squat, RPE or percentage of 1RM loading, weak-lift emphasis, and a competition peak block.

Olympic Weightlifting

Beginner through peaking programs for the snatch and clean and jerk. Choose full competition lifts or power variants, percentage or RPE loading, and snatch or clean and jerk emphasis.

Strongman

Beginner and intermediate blocks that train events the way strongman loads them. Carries, sled, and yoke log by distance or for time, not like a bench press. The wizard pins your contest events onto the events day and builds implement or barbell-gym versions of every day.

General Strength & Hypertrophy

Full body, upper / lower, and push pull legs templates, plus dumbbell-only and two-day minimalist options. Build size and strength on whatever equipment you have.

Calisthenics & Kettlebell

Bodyweight progressions from beginner to advanced skill work like the planche, front lever, and handstand, plus kettlebell strength and conditioning. The wizard programs your chosen skills at an experience-matched rung, with holds prescribed in seconds.

Team & Field Sports

Off-season, pre-season, and in-season programs for basketball, football, soccer, and volleyball, plus running and mountain biking. Periodized around your competitive season.

The Powerlifting Wizard

  • Loading: train by RPE, or program every main lift as a percentage of 1RM that re-prices live from your maxes
  • Competition squat: low bar or high bar, with beginners guided to high bar first
  • Weak-lift emphasis: add volume to a lagging squat, bench, or deadlift
  • Meet peak: turn the final block into a competition peak that ramps to heavy singles and tapers into meet day
  • Mesocycles auto-label as Accumulation, Intensification, Realization, and Peak

The Olympic Weightlifting Wizard

  • Variant: full squat snatch and clean and jerk, or above-the-knee power variants, with beginners guided to power first
  • Loading: RPE, or percentage of 1RM resolved live from your snatch, clean and jerk, and squat maxes
  • Lift emphasis: add hang and pull derivative volume to the snatch or the clean and jerk
  • Meet peak: ramp the classic lifts to heavy singles and taper into competition
  • The same percentage loading, peaking, and auto-progression engine as powerlifting

The Strongman Wizard

  • Implements or a regular gym: log, axle, and yoke headline your days, or barbell and dumbbell stand-ins build the same split
  • Contest events: pin up to three events from your next show onto the events day, trained every week
  • Event emphasis: extra volume for overhead, the deadlift, or moving events
  • Loading: RPE or percentage of 1RM on the headline lifts, while timed and distance events stay effort-based
  • Contest peak: the barbell mains ramp to heavy singles while event volume pulls back into the show

The Calisthenics Wizard

  • Pick up to three skills: planche, front lever, back lever, handstand, muscle-up, one-arm chin-up, L-sit, or pistol squat
  • Each skill trains at a rung matched to your experience, never above it, with holds prescribed in seconds
  • Strength or skill focus: keep practice on a dedicated day, mix it in, or open every session with it
  • Bodyweight by design, with rings, parallettes, and bands counting as equipment
  • Time-based PRs and the Skills page track your best holds and the next rung on every ladder

Every plan shares the same controls: 2 to 6 days a week, a 4 to 16 week length, experience gating that keeps advanced lifts away from beginners, equipment selection so you only get movements you can load, and an optional cardio add-on. The wizard also reads the training maxes you already have: it pre-selects percentage loading when they cover your main lifts, suggests an emphasis when one lift clearly lags, and offers one-tap estimates for anything missing, with every suggestion yours to override. Log your AMRAP top sets and auto-progression proposes training-max bumps each cycle, then re-prices the whole program automatically.

Prefer to describe it in plain words? With the optional Ægir Assistant Coach turned on, you can type something like "build me a 4 day powerlifting block" and it drafts the same kind of periodized plan for you to review and confirm, with no wizard steps. The Assistant Coach is a separate add-on, off by default, and the wizard and templates work fully without it.

Periodization

See Your Plan Against Reality

Every good program waves on purpose: it builds, it backs off, it peaks. Ægir Iron draws that wave across the block and lays your logged results right on top, by lift or by whole movement pattern, so a block that is drifting shows itself at a glance.

New in Version 2.0 · Optional

Ægir Assistant Coach, Only If You Want It

Version 2.0 adds an optional in-app Ægir Assistant Coach. It is off by default, it is a separate add-on, and the entire platform, the wizard, the analytics, and the coaching tools, works exactly the same whether you ever turn it on or not. It is a tool, not the point.

Off by default, and yours to control. The Assistant Coach only reads your training, and it only sends anything to our AI provider once you turn it on in Settings. Your messages and training context are never used to train anyone's models, and every action it proposes is previewed and confirmed by you before it saves. Turn it off and nothing about your training changes.
Reads your own logged results and analytics, then answers questions grounded in your training instead of generic advice
Log a workout by typing or dictating: "squat 3x5 at 225, last set RPE 8" drafts the log for you to confirm
Build or import a program, update a training max, or record a meet, always through a preview-then-confirm gate
Every change flows through the same paths the rest of the app uses, so your PRs and analytics stay consistent
A $4.99 per month add-on with a monthly usage limit, separate from your base plan and never required
Training information, not medical advice. You stay in control of every decision

Why Ægir Iron

What Makes This Different

Your Data Stays With You

Switch coaches, go from self-coached to coached and back, change disciplines entirely. Your training data, PRs, and history follow you through every transition. No starting over.

Your Complete Lifting History

Add prior meets, prior lifts, and historical PRs for any exercise, from bicep curls to power snatches. Keep your entire lifting life in one place, not scattered across old apps and spreadsheets.

Pounds or Kilograms, Your Call

Set your display unit in Settings and change it anytime. Every weight, PR, chart, and analytic converts instantly. Storage stays canonical, so nothing drifts when you switch.

Programs and Meet Plans Sync in Real Time

Coaches build programs and meet plans that push to athlete accounts automatically. Update a training block or adjust meet attempts and athletes see it instantly.

Coaches Train Too

Coaches program and track their own training alongside their athletes. No separate account. Your coaching roster and your own training live side by side.

Roster Health at a Glance

Coaches assess recovery, workload, and readiness trends across the whole roster, down to a per-athlete Body Map of muscle recovery and volume. Solo lifters track the same patterns in their own training over time.

iOS, Android, and Web

Apps on iPhone and Android. On iOS, an Apple Watch companion with face complications, Home and Lock Screen widgets, a rest-timer Live Activity, Siri shortcuts, and Apple Health auto-fill. A full web app in any browser. Your data stays in sync across every device.

An Assistant, Not Just a Chatbot

Most apps bolt on a generic chatbot, if they have one at all. The optional Ægir Assistant Coach reads your own logged results and analytics, answers questions grounded in them, and can build a program, log a session, or update a max from plain language, with every change confirmed before it saves. Off by default, and the platform works fully without it.

FAQ

Common Questions

Do I need to download an app? +
Ægir Iron is available as an app on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play), and as a full web app you can open in any browser. Your data syncs across all platforms.
Can I train in kilograms? +
Yes. Set your display unit to pounds or kilograms in Settings and change it anytime. Every weight, PR, chart, and analytic re-renders in your unit. Storage stays canonical, so switching never alters your numbers.
How does the coach/athlete connection work? +
Coaches get a personal invite link. Share it with your athlete. They click it, create an account or sign in, and they are on your roster instantly. No email lookups, no manual adds. Athletes use the app free. The coach's subscription covers them.
What sports does Ægir Iron support? +
Powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, strongman, calisthenics, general strength training, and programming for sport athletes like soccer, football, baseball, basketball, and volleyball. The program builder, logging, and analytics work for any structured strength training, with or without a barbell. Competition features include meet planning for powerlifting, weightlifting, and strongman with sport-specific scoring (Wilks, Dots, Sinclair, and IPF GL).
Is Ægir Iron free for individuals? +
Yes. If you train on your own or under a coach, you use the full platform for free with no time limit and no card required. The paid plans are for coaches who run a roster, and each one starts with a 30-day free trial before any charge.
Can I import my training history? +
Yes. Add historical strength entries manually or by batch import. They feed your PR tracking and progress charts.
Can I share my workouts to Strava? +
Yes. Connect Strava in Settings, then share any completed session to your Strava feed from the History tab. It posts as a full strength activity with every exercise and set, total volume, and an auto-generated muscle map. Sharing is one-way: Ægir Iron posts to Strava and never reads your Strava data.
What makes this different from other training apps? +
Ægir Iron is built for strength sports. Real periodization structure (Cycle / Block / Week / Day). Science-backed analytics with ACWR load monitoring. Meet planning for powerlifting, weightlifting, and strongman. A coach suite where athletes join free and programs sync to their accounts in real time. A pound or kilogram display you can flip anytime. It runs as an app on iOS and Android, with an Apple Watch companion, and a full web app. Most fitness apps are built for general fitness with strength bolted on. This is the opposite.
Is Ægir Iron an AI app? +
No. Ægir Iron is a full strength training platform, and the program wizard, analytics, and coaching tools all work with no AI at all. Version 2.0 adds an optional Ægir Assistant Coach: an in-app AI you turn on in Settings, off by default, sold as a separate $4.99 per month add-on. When it is off, no training data ever leaves the app for AI. When you turn it on, it reads your results to answer questions and can log, program, and update maxes, with every change confirmed by you before it saves. It is a tool you can use or ignore, and the app is just as effective either way.

Forged for and by the Iron.

Individual lifters get every feature for free from day one, and coaches start with a 30-day trial on any roster plan.
